Tutees And Parents - Choosing a Tutor

“I was most impressed with this website and will definitely be using it again. Many thanks. Sarah.”

Why Private Tuition?

As a parent you may choose private tuition for your children to help a child who has temporarily fallen behind to catch up, to learn a subject outside the school environment, or to stretch your child further or give closer attention to the needs of your child than is possible in a classroom environment.

Tutoring can raise levels of school performance, help a child to increase their confidence, enjoyment and motivation in a subject and develop study skills and discipline that can be applied across a number of subjects.

Choosing your private tutor

Please use First Tutors to find home tutors near you who meet your specific requirements.

Discover through one search the most suitable tutor for your needs including consideration of cost and location. Subjects include English and Maths from primary level through to GCSE, A-Level and up to degree level.

Our profiles invite tutors to declare:

  • Hourly rates
  • Qualifications
  • Approach to tutoring
  • CRB check status
  • Availability (day, evening or weekend)

Remember, these are self-declarations, so you should always ask to see the tutor's qualifications and CRB certificate in the first lesson as a matter of course.

When you have chosen which private tutors you would like to hear from, contact and ask questions to up to 4 home tutors in your private member's area.

Confirming your choice of home tutor

You will then receive email notification as soon as your selected tutors confirm they are happy to commence tuition or answer your questions. All that remains is for you to accept their offer at which point we exchange tutor and tutee contact details on your behalf.

Our Fee

Only when your match is confirmed as satisfactory by you do we ask for £7.50 payable online by credit/debit card. This tiny fee is dramatically cheaper than tuition agency fees and reassures our tutors that their enquirer is a serious adult. We won't invite you to release the details until the tutor has confirmed they can meet your request.
